TRIPOD: Reporting guidelines for prediction models (prognosis and diagnosis)
Presented by Dr. Marianne Huebner, CSTAT and Department of Statistics and Probability
Prediction models estimate
- the probability of a certain condition being present but not yet detected (diagnosis)
- the probability of an outcome developing in the future (prognosis)
We will introduce briefly the background of prediction models, assessing performance and validation, and then discuss reporting guidelines of the TRIPOD statement.
CSTAT presents a series of reporting guidelines developed to improve the reliability and value of published health research and animal research studies by promoting transparent and accurate reporting. Many journals require these reporting guidelines when submitting manuscripts. Reporting guidelines are not quality appraisal tools.
