CSTAT Welcomes Dr. Greg Hixon as the new Associate Director!

CSTAT is happy to welcome aboard a new Associate Director, Dr. J. Gregory (Greg) Hixon!

Dr. Hixon’s career has focused on delivering advanced statistical and mathematical solutions in academia, government, and the private sector for more than thirty years.  Prior to joining CSTAT, he most recently served on the faculty at the University of Texas at Austin, where he taught Ph.D. level classes ranging from foundational linear regression to advanced topics like Bayesian techniques, simulation methods, structural equations modeling, non-linear analysis, and more.  He enjoys work in virtually any subject area, but has special interest in economics and the financial markets, as well as in engineering and physical/environmental science applications.

Dr. Steven Pierce is excited to hand the Associate Director reins over to Dr. Hixon and then devote more time to research and outreach. Dr. Pierce will remain in CSTAT as a Senior Statistician and plans to collaborate on more grants, research studies, and evaluation projects, write more, and begin developing some new teaching materials.
