Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD)
MSU's BERD Core supports researchers in the health sciences by providing expertise in the conduct, design, analysis and interpretation of research studies. Statisticians play a critical role in comprehensive study design and statistical analysis as well as interpretation and dissemination of ethical, reproducible, and high-quality clinical and translational research.
Mission
- To promote high-quality, innovative, state-of-the-art biostatistical collaboration and education for clinical and translational researchers to benefit public health and patient care
- To collaborate with BERD’s affiliated health research partners and with clinical and translational sciences (CTSA) groups nationwide
Specific aims
- Provide easily accessible, user-friendly, multidisciplinary collaborative support in research design, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination for clinical and translational researchers.
- Participate in the education of clinical and translational researchers by providing training in best practice, scientific investigations through study-design methodologies and statistical practices.
- Support methodological research for development of novel research design, advancement of efficient analysis methods, and enhancement of statistical software
