Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD)

MSU's  BERD Core supports researchers in the health sciences by providing expertise in the conduct, design, analysis and interpretation of research studies. Statisticians play a critical role in comprehensive study design and statistical analysis as well as interpretation and dissemination of ethical, reproducible, and high-quality clinical and translational research.

Mission

• To promote high-quality, innovative, state-of-the-art biostatistical collaboration and education for clinical and translational researchers to benefit public health and patient care
• To collaborate with BERD’s affiliated health research partners and with clinical and translational sciences (CTSA) groups nationwide

Specific aims

1. Provide easily accessible, user-friendly, multidisciplinary collaborative support in research design, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination for clinical and translational researchers.
2. Participate in the education of clinical and translational researchers by providing training in best practice, scientific investigations through study-design methodologies and statistical practices.
3. Support methodological research for development of novel research design, advancement of efficient analysis methods, and enhancement of statistical software
